Xbalanque

This serene boutique resort checks all the boxes for a peaceful escape. Our yoga group just spent five nights at Xbalanque. The beauty of this special place cannot be overstated. The aesthetic of Xbalanque is defined by a gorgeous combination of natural wood, stone, tropical flowers and plants, and spectacular art. There are many places throughout the resort to eat, swim, relax (in sun and shade), have a massage, or swing in a hammock on the dock. Some of the qualities of Xbalanque that stood out for us: the attentive, friendly staff, the food, the comfortable beds, the filtered water everywhere!, the gorgeous jungle yoga palapa, and the overall beauty of the grounds. Our group snorkeled and saw the amazing coral reef and fish that Roatan is famous for, one person went fishing and caught enough fish to feed our group of 14 for dinner one night! Patsy, the owner of Xbalanque, has created a lovely oasis for her guests, she treats her staff like family and their attentiveness to guests is a testament to her appreciation for them and for those of us lucky enough to experience this uniquely beautiful place.

Such a wonderful place to bring a big family. We went with two other families and the staff accommodating for everything. They were all so kind and attentive. The food and drink selection on the resort was also amazing. Tasteful amenities like quality live music, sound baths, yoga, spa time. I will be bringing my extended family here, for sure!

We just returned from a week stay at the Xbalanque resort and cannot say enough good things about it. The owner, Patsy, was extremely gracious and very responsive. She answered all of our questions in advance of our stay to ensure we were well prepared for the trip. She offered us ground transportation to/from the airport which gave us great peace of mind. Danny picked us up from the airport and offered us a grocery stop, which was a huge help so that we could have snacks/drinks in our room. Edder gave us our return trip back to the airport and several rides to and from our excursions throughout the week. He was awesome. He was always punctual, reliable, and fun to be around. The front desk stay was great and helped us plan excursions for every day- some of our favorites were the dolphin action swim, zip lining, scuba diving and the fishing/snorkel trip. What I loved most is that the resort was in the perfect spot on the island. No crowds and very private and serene. But there was tons to do if you wanted to do excursions. And almost all of our excursions were private which was extra special. We stayed in the sun room which was extremely spacious. There were two bedrooms, a full kitchen, living room and beautiful outdoor deck with ocean views. We travel a lot and This was one of the best family vacations we have had. Huge thank you to the entire Xbalanque staff for making our stay so enjoyable!!

Would definitely recommend a stay at Xbalanque! Shoutout to Mike at Lotus Restaurant. He was such a joy and even agreed to serve us dinner when we showed up 10 minutes before the restaurant closed. The food was also delicious. We ate there at least 10 times during our 5 day stay and in particular I need to RAVE about the BALEADAS at breakfast! Soooo so good. The seafood risotto at dinner was also delightful and both desserts on the menu (key lime pie and tres leches cake) were a must-try! I did have reasons for docking the hotel by 1 star. First of all, we were the only guests at the entire resort for the first 2 days, which was awesome! Private pool, private beach, private restaurant! However, our room was not in the main building (the one shown in all the photos) and we had to walk up a very steep hill in an overgrown path to get to a series of buildings on the street behind. I think they could have advertised that the room was not in the main building at time of purchase, and definitely could have upgraded our room to a room in the main building since no one else was there lol! So from that aspect, customer service wasn't so great. Also, the receptionist left at ~2pm every day, so she said we could call a golf cart if we wanted to get back to the restaurant in the main building at night, but she wasn't there to call it or help us plan activities! However, it was so peaceful and I would stay there again. It came recommended to us by Roatan Divers, and they even picked us up from Xbalanque's dock numerous times, so if you're a diver I would recommend this as well.

This was our first trip to Roatan, and we did a lot of research before deciding where to stay. We wanted to avoid crowds, and Xbalanque seemed perfectly situated for that. It didn't take long after we arrived to decide that we had chosen the perfect location for us. We were able to walk to the far end of West Bay Beach in about 15 minutes, and we could hail a water taxi at the resort's dock to take us to West End. Every time we went to either of those locations, we were so happy to return to the serenity of Xbalanque. The staff we encountered were all fantastic, from William who met us when we arrived (we got there later than anticipated) to Christopher who was our server at several meals. And of course I have to give a big shout-out to Mike, who was always on hand with a smile when we were ready to eat or order a round of drinks from the bar. He was a pleasure to interact with and helped to make our trip special. The grounds and facilities at Xbalanque are top notch. The restaurant, Lotus, is a beautiful space, and we enjoyed several meals there. The freshwater pool is amazing, and somehow we were often the only ones using it. We stayed in the Del Mar Suite and it was perfect for the three of us. We will definitely return to Xbalanque and will recommend it to anyone we know considering a trip to Roatan.

We celebrated our daughters’s 10th birthday in Roatan and had the pleasure of staying at Xbalanque Resort. This immaculate and secluded property sits on a private beach. The well appointed rooms are above and beyond. The food was perfection. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The owner, Patsy, was present and the perfect host. They made every effort to ensure we had a lovely trip…. Right down to a surprise birthday cake for our daughter. We will cherish the memories we made at Xbalanque forever.
